International Chef's Apprenticeship Program
The International Chef's Apprenticeship Program is a high quality chef's training program
that meets the international standards of professional cookery and provides international
recognition and certification. The program enables young Egyptians to
learn a specialized skill to find immediate employment in the fast growing industries in Egypt:
hotel and tourism sector, restaurant establishments, institutional catering facilities and other
food service operations.
Organizations Involved
The Culinary Training Centers of Egypt project is financially funded by the Ministry of Tourism, and managed
by the Egyptian Tourism Federation (ETF) with the technical assistance of the Egyptian
Chefs Association (ECA) and Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET).
The program will take place at the newly established Culinary Training Centers located at Akhbar El Youm Academy
in 6th of October City and at the South Valley University in Luxor. The training kitchens at the centers are equipped with state-of-the-art modern kitchen equipment,
100% funded by the Ministry of Tourism.
Study Duration and Certification
Young Egyptians will have the opportunity to study six months full-time to complete the program or part-time study basis
for one year. Upon completion of the program,
students will be internationally certified as chef with immediate employment opportunities.
How can You Participate?
Vocational training is known worldwide to be expensive,
because it requires extensive equipment and small class
sizes, in addition to needed ingredients for the practical sessions,
as well as sanitation and cleaning materials and of course chef's clothing. The Win-Win structure
of the project, however, aims to spread the financial burden on all parties involved.
Tuition fee for the complete International Chef's Apprenticeship Program including international certification is LE 15,000 per student.
Payment Structure of Tuition Fees:
- Subsidy Ministry of Tourism 70%
- Donations 20%
- Student 10%
